There’s no time like the present to start organizing.
It’s no secret how much I love to organize. And yet, we still accumulate things we no longer need. Spring is the perfect time to get a fresh start and renew your energy and motivation to tackle organizing projects you may have been putting off.
We’re going to kick overwhelm to the curb and use the 4 tips below to start organizing today!
Refresh your space.
Renew your life.
4 Tips to Start Organizing Today
With paper and pen in hand, walk your home with a discerning eye and make note of the areas that need the most attention.
Itemize larger areas into smaller tasks so you can cross off mini accomplishments as you make them (eg. tackle the junk drawer in the kitchen one day, and the utensil drawer the next)
Crossing items off your list is motivating and encourages you to keep moving forward.
Pair down your items to the necessities, then shop your house. You might be surprised to find that some of the containers you already own can be used in new ways.
Examples: A Punch Bowl can hold toilet paper, a Champagne Bucket can hold Lego, a Magazine Holder can be used to store reusable shopping bags or paint supplies, Kitchen Turntables can hold cleaning supplies, first aid, or art supplies
Set aside a box for items you no longer use or want. Once that box is full, take it to your closest donation drop-off. Please don’t wait until you finish the entire house before getting rid of things.
If items start to pile up, so will your stress level.
Remember – Baby Steps!
No one wants to declutter an entire closet with a lifetime full of clothes in one afternoon. Trust me, if you take on too much, you’ll get discouraged and abandon your efforts.
Happy Organizing!
