DIY Ikea Rast Hack

Like most small homes, we have tiny closets. Eva’s bedroom is no exception, but a traditional dresser is just too large and would take up far too much space in her room.
Our Solution? Find something small and inexpensive. A quick trip to Ikea led me to the Ikea Rast dresser. At 11 3/4″ deep, it doesn’t take up too much space. We used 2 of the Rast Chest of Drawers side by side until we were ready to customize them.

I decided against permanently attaching the dressers in case we want to display them separately at some point.
Materials:
- Ikea Rast Chest of Drawers x2
- Primer – Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3® Primer-Sealer Stain Killer
- Paint – Dulux Diamond Semi-gloss Paint in Gypsum
- Crystal Knobs – Home Sense
Ikea Rast Chest of Drawers After

Brad removed the wood piece below the bottom drawer. We primed each dresser, then rolled on 2 coats of paint, and finished them off with some new crystal knobs. I’m planning to leave them like this for a while, but wouldn’t they look great with a piece of marble on top or sitting on top of small accent legs?? Something tells me this is only phase 1 of our update!

For a temporary solution, it turned out pretty cute. What do you think?
